We’ve had a great start to the 2016-2017 school year here in the BT Library Learning-Commons!

In September, classes began visiting the Library for a brief Library Orientation and an opportunity to take out their first books of the school year.  Students were pleasantly surprised to find some new furniture additions to the Library including some round backless sofas and black seating cubes.

We had an amazing turn out for Library Helpers with almost 60 Grade 6, 7, & 8 students showing up at our first meeting.  We’ve broken this large and dedicated group up into Tuesday and Thursday Library helpers and students are learning to shelve fiction and non-fiction books through the month of October.

This Fall we are also celebrating Canadian Authors and have been lucky enough to have two author visits:

On October 5th, Vikki Van Sickle visited with our Gr. 1 & 2 students to share her picture book “If I Had a Gryphon”.  Students got to be “pet detectives” as they examined artifacts and determine what magical creature they might belong to.

Sigmund Brouwer spoke to our Gr. 5 & 6 students on October 13th as part of the Seven Series Prequel tour.  An energetic and fun presentation left our students inspirited to become “Story Ninjas” as Sigmund shared the important of story elements and writing to connect with an audience.

The Fall fun has not ended in the BT Library Learning-Commons!  Stay tuned for more news of what’s happening here at Bruce Trail Public School.
